The WALLEM–WESTMINSTER Closing Ceremony, held in partnership with San Antonio Integrated National High School (SAINHS), marked the successful culmination of the Adopt A Ship sessions under Adopt A Ship International. The event highlighted the value of sustained collaboration between the maritime sector and educational institutions in broadening students’ awareness of global shipping and its impact on communities worldwide.
The program opened with formal preliminaries, followed by welcome remarks from Mrs. Normil Dequin, who underscored the significance of the initiative in providing meaningful learning opportunities for students. A cultural intermission featuring a student folk dance added a vibrant touch, reflecting both local heritage and student engagement.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the address of Capt. Ceferino Leal Jr., who emphasized the critical role of the shipping industry in global connectivity and trade. He encouraged students to consider maritime careers, sharing practical insights into the profession. An interactive open forum allowed students to engage directly, fostering curiosity and deeper understanding of life at sea.
C/Officer Jeffrey Aldas delivered a message of appreciation and facilitated a dynamic question-and-answer session, acknowledging the collective efforts of educators, administrators, and partner organizations. Certificates of recognition were subsequently awarded to honor their contributions to the program’s success.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Rosel Amil, who expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their commitment and support. The event ended with a photo session and a short video presentation recognizing partner organizations.
