The SENATOR CREWING MANILA Closing Ceremony, held at Adelina 1 National High School (A1NHS), marked the successful culmination of the Adopt A Ship Program in partnership with Senator Crewing Manila and Adopt A Ship International. Conducted in both morning and afternoon sessions, the event engaged students across grade levels and highlighted the value of industry–education collaboration in expanding awareness of maritime opportunities.
The morning session, attended by Grade 7 and Grade 10 students, opened with an invocation and the school hymn, followed by welcome remarks from OIC Principal Ms. Sheryll M. Dadal, who emphasized the importance of partnerships in providing students with broader career perspectives. A dance intermission energized the program before the inspirational message of Ms. Anna Lisa D. Ureta, who connected with students through familiar generational language while stressing that success requires perseverance and commitment. This was followed by a special message from Mr. George Hoyt, who encouraged students to value teamwork through a symbolic “pinky chain” activity. The session continued with a thank-you message from C/Officer Jeffrey Aldas, an interactive question-and-answer segment, and a student activity game. An awarding ceremony recognized participants, and the program concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Elizabeth F. Ariola, followed by a photo opportunity and a video of student reflections.
The afternoon session, attended by Grade 8 and Grade 9 students, followed a similar structure, beginning with an invocation, school hymn, and opening remarks from Ms. Dadal. Student engagement remained high through dance and song performances, including a vocal number by Dhazzlie Mallari. The inspirational message from Ms. Nanette Veluz provided a personal perspective on the maritime profession, highlighting both its opportunities and the sacrifices it entails for seafarers and their families. Mr. George Hoyt delivered a second message reinforcing student participation in the program and the importance of unity through the “pinky chain” activity. The program continued with a thank-you message from C/Officer Jeffrey Aldas, followed by a question-and-answer session, an activity game, and the awarding of certificates. Closing remarks were delivered by Ms. Katrina Sarabosing, after which students expressed their gratitude through a video message, followed by a photo opportunity.
Across both sessions, the closing ceremony served as a meaningful conclusion to the program—celebrating student participation, active learning, and collaboration, while reinforcing the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and exploring opportunities within the maritime industry.
