Adopt A Ship Young Mariners Quiz Bee with SCM and A1CES
In line with its mission to inspire curiosity, expand global awareness, and promote lifelong learning among young learners, the Adopt A Ship Program successfully conducted the Young Mariners Quiz Bee on September 30, 2025 at Adelina 1 Complex Elementary School in partnership with Senator Crewing Manila.
Carrying the theme, “Discovering the World, One Question at a Time,” the event brought together some of the brightest students from Grades 4, 5, and 6, with ten (10) representatives from each grade level demonstrating their knowledge, critical thinking skills, and enthusiasm for learning.
The competition featured three challenging rounds designed to test the participants' understanding of geography, maritime awareness, and general knowledge. The Easy Round consisted of ten (10) questions worth one (1) point each, followed by the Average Round with ten (10) questions worth three (3) points each, and the Difficult Round with five (5) questions worth five (5) points each. Contestants were given five seconds to write their answers to multiple-choice questions, while clincher questions were administered in the event of a tie to determine the final winners.
Throughout the competition, the students displayed remarkable confidence, sportsmanship, and determination, creating an atmosphere filled with excitement, healthy competition, and learning. The event not only challenged their academic abilities but also encouraged them to think critically and apply knowledge gained through their classroom experiences and participation in the Adopt A Ship Program.
In recognition of their hard work and participation, all contestants received certificates and tokens of appreciation. Meanwhile, the top three performers from each grade level were proudly awarded medals for their outstanding achievement. The awarding ceremony was graced by Anna Casulla-Revadulla and Carmen Sanchez, the quiz bee coaches, who congratulated the pupils for their excellent performance, dedication, and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the competition.
The program concluded with a photo opportunity involving the participants, teachers, organizers, and awardees, capturing a memorable celebration of learning, achievement, and camaraderie. More than just a competition, the Young Mariners Quiz Bee served as a meaningful educational experience that ignited the students’ passion for discovery and learning. It reinforced the idea that every question answered opens new opportunities for knowledge and growth, inspiring young minds to continue exploring the world and reaching for new horizons.
