PACC Shipping Philippines Inc., in partnership with San Roque Elementary School (SRES) and the Adopt-a-Ship International Program, successfully culminated its Closing Ceremony—an inspiring celebration of resilience, learning, and maritime awareness.
The program opened with the remarks of Mr. Robert Matthew de Castro, School Head of SRES, who extended his heartfelt appreciation to PACC and AASI for bringing the Adopt-a-Ship initiative to their school. He saluted the students for their perseverance in attending classes despite challenges such as flooding. He encouraged them with the words “Huwag susuko,” reminding them that there will always be people willing to help them reach their dreams. With positivity and determination, he expressed confidence that future seafarers could rise from San Roque Elementary School.
The atmosphere was further enlivened by Sabayang Pagbigkas and Storytelling performed by selected Grade 4 and Grade 6 students, showcasing their talents and creativity.
Capt. Adrian Ludovice, President of PACC Shipping Philippines Inc., delivered an uplifting inspirational message. He expressed that it is a privilege for PACC to be part of the program and to help both the students and the school community. He also shared his hope that one day, he will meet some of the students again—this time as future seafarers working in the same company.
Mr. George Hoyt, IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador, shared a powerful message about teamwork. He emphasized that a captain cannot win alone; a strong team is needed to succeed. He reminded the students that the first captain of the very first team they belong to is their parents, and that they should help, respect, and support them.
C/OFF Jeffrey Aldas gave a heartfelt Thank You Message, expressing gratitude to the students, teachers, school officials, and PACC for their cooperation throughout the program. This was followed by lively activity games that brought joy and excitement to the participants.
The celebration continued with the Awarding Ceremony, where certificates, medals, and tokens were given to recognize the efforts and achievements of the students, teachers, and the partner company.
Mr. Fernando Celerio delivered the Closing Remarks, expressing appreciation for the meaningful collaboration and encouraging the students to continue dreaming big. The event concluded with a joyful photo opportunity, capturing the smiles and accomplishments of the day.
Adding to the festive atmosphere were food carts serving popcorn, ice cream, and cotton candy, making the celebration even more memorable for the students as they marked the success of the Adopt-a-Ship Program.
