The series of Closing Ceremonies held by Marlow Navigation in partnership with Adopt-a-Ship International (AASI) and the participating schools—MES, P2CES, and CES—became memorable milestones that celebrated learning, maritime awareness, and the bright dreams of young learners. Each ceremony highlighted the unwavering support of Marlow Navigation, the dedication of teachers, and the genuine curiosity of the pupils who embarked on this maritime journey.
MES Closing Ceremony
Despite being held in a single classroom, the MES Closing Ceremony was filled with warmth, excitement, and meaningful engagement.
School Head Mrs. Rusela Gumabay expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the friendship built, the lessons learned, and the opportunities introduced to the young learners through the Adopt-a-Ship Program. She thanked Marlow Navigation and AASI for opening the maritime world to the pupils.
An inspirational message from 2/O Christelle Singua encouraged students to dream of becoming seafarers someday, possibly even joining Marlow Navigation in the future. Capt. Leo Tenorio, Program Consultant, reassured the pupils that AASI will always be there to support them, hoping that the learnings they gained will guide them in their future endeavors.
Mr. George Hoyt, IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador, delighted the students by telling them, “You are wonderful today.” He appreciated their active participation and shared that although Adopt-a-Ship exists in other countries like Cyprus, he chose to dedicate his time and passion to Adopt-a-Ship Philippines, where his heart is. He reminded them once more: “We are here for you!”
C/OFF Jeffrey Aldas extended his sincere thanks to Marlow Navigation, Capt. Tenorio, Ms. Jeanne Araga, the officers onboard, teachers, and students for a fruitful journey together.

A lighthearted moment came when Capt. Leo Tenorio, jokingly introducing himself as “Captain Pogi,” captured the attention of the audience. He motivated the students to consider seafaring as a future career, emphasizing that the Philippines remains the world’s top supplier of seafarers. He ended his message with an inspiring reminder: “If you want to see the world for free, be a seafarer!”
With pride, Mr. George Hoyt shared that Marlow Navigation is one of the biggest shipping companies in the world—and that they are ready to support the learners. He taught the importance of teamwork, calling six pupils to stand and declaring them potential leaders of the future.
C/OFF Jeffrey Aldas expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the program. The fun chant “HEP! HEP! Hooray!” energized the crowd, leading to the Closing Remarks of Mrs. Ma. Cecile Bitoon, who encouraged the students to dream of becoming seafarers and explore the world someday.
