MARITIME CAMP 2025: Marlow Navigation and San Pedro Schools

The Maritime Camp 2025, held under the inspiring theme “Charting the Course: Sailing Towards a Sustainable Future,” was successfully conducted on October 9, 2025, at Cuyab Elementary School. This impactful event brought together 45 students and their dedicated teachers from Cuyab Elementary School, Magsaysay Elementary School, and Pacita Complex 2 Elementary School, made possible through the strong collaboration of School Institutions, Marlow Navigation and the Adopt-a-Ship Program.

The camp was further enriched by the presence of distinguished delegates from Marlow Navigation. Consultant Capt. Leo Tenorio shared heartfelt stories from his seafaring journey and highlighted the many opportunities in the maritime industry. Recruitment Manager Francis Pama uplifted the participants with a motivational message, encouraging them to give their best in every challenge and in all future pursuits. Meanwhile, IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador George Hoyt emphasized that teamwork is the true key to success - an important reminder that set the tone for the entire event. Their collective guidance anchored in passion, purpose, and possibilities truly resonated with everyone.

Designed to promote sustainable maritime awareness, the camp offered students an engaging platform to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and values while deepening their understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Seven base activities formed the core of the camp, each crafted to reflect specific SDG themes through fun, educational, and interactive learning experiences. These included the Eco Quiz Bee, SDG Synergy Puzzle Challenge, GeoDiscovery Challenge, Expression Cube Challenge, Sustain-a-Spell Challenge, Hop, Pick and Stick Challenge, and the Water Basin Challenge. To further showcase the creativity and initiative of the participants, two special competitions - the Poster Making Contest and NutriCooking Contest - were held and contributed to the final scoring matrix that determined the overall winners.

The camp was filled with engaging and well-planned activities that kept students energized from start to finish. From team-building games to hands-on learning sessions, each activity encouraged cooperation, creativity, and confidence. Students enthusiastically participated in every challenge, showing excitement and genuine enjoyment throughout the day. Laughter, cheers, and lively conversations filled the venue as campers bonded with their camp mates and formed new friendships. The facilitators ensured that every activity was not only fun but also meaningful, helping students discover new skills and interests while developing sportmanship. All students and teachers were provided with free meals, snacks, and transportation to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience throughout the event.

At the end of the closely tight competition, Cuyab Elementary School emerged as the overall champion, securing first place, followed by Magsaysay Elementary School in second place, and Pacita Complex 2 Elementary School in third place. The winning teams were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with certificates, AASI giveaways, and cash prizes generously sponsored by Marlow Navigation and Adopt-a-Ship International. Special awards were also given for the Poster Making and NutriCooking Competitions. In the Poster Making Contest, MES won first place, followed by CES and PC2ES. In the NutriCooking Contest, MES again claimed first place, with PC2ES and CES securing second and third places, respectively. The awarding ceremony was made even more vibrant by dance and singing performances from the participating schools, bringing joy, pride, and celebration to the entire venue.

The success of Maritime Camp 2025 stands as a powerful testament to what can be achieved through collaboration, shared passion, and a unified vision for the future. As the students demonstrated curiosity, resilience, creativity, and teamwork, they also embodied the spirit of young leaders ready to navigate a more sustainable world. This event was more than a competition; it was a meaningful journey in leadership and environmental stewardship, reaffirming that these young learners are indeed becoming champions of sustainability and the future guardians of our seas. With the continued support of partners like Marlow Navigation, schools, mentors, and the Adopt-a-Ship Program, we are confident that the next generation of maritime champions is already on the horizon. Together, we continue to sail toward a brighter, more responsible, and more inspiring future for all.
