The Anglo Eastern Closing Ceremony for SV3AES, LRCS, and P1CES was a meaningful culmination of the Adopt-a-Ship Program, celebrating learning, inspiration, and strengthened partnerships between the maritime community and the schools.
SV3AES Closing Ceremony
The program opened with warm remarks from Mrs. Berlyn Daguro, School Head, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all participants. She recognized the vision of Mr. George Hoyt in championing the Adopt-a-Ship Program, Anglo Eastern for generously sharing their time, knowledge, and support, the teachers for their dedication in integrating the program into their lessons, and the learners for their enthusiasm and curiosity. She looked forward to deeper collaboration in the years ahead.
The inspirational messages set the tone for a hopeful and empowering event. Ms. Rachel Derder, Deputy General Manager, reminded the pupils that learning never ends and that the end of the program opens new opportunities to explore and reconnect with maritime officers. She encouraged them to stay curious, dream bigger, and pursue their aspirations. C/E Jayson Garcia, Recruitment Manager, motivated the pupils to consider a maritime career, emphasizing discipline, focus, and hard work as keys to success.
Capt. Neeraj Dhingra, Director of Anglo Eastern, shared his concern that fewer young people pursue seafaring, but he encouraged the learners to continue reaching for their dreams. Mr. George Hoyt, IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador, delivered a powerful message on teamwork, relating its importance to the shipping industry. He emphasized gender equality by affirming that girls can also become ship captains, and highlighted Anglo Eastern’s global excellence and the many opportunities that await students. He reminded everyone that the Adopt-a-Ship Program is truly for the learners.
C/OFF Jeffrey Aldas acknowledged the unwavering support of teachers, the active participation of students, and the dedication of Anglo Eastern officers on board. Mr. Celso S. Galleto expressed gratitude for the program’s impact on the younger generation. The ceremony concluded with lively games, prize-giving, the awarding of certificates, the announcement of the Young Mariner Award, and a photo opportunity.
LRCS Closing Ceremony
At LRCS, Mrs. Nenet Cuaño, School Head, opened the program with a warm and optimistic message, acknowledging the efforts of all participants and inspiring learners to dream bigger and aim higher. She emphasized that the program has brought them closer to the world beyond their classroom walls.
The speakers once again gave meaningful encouragement. Ms. Rachel Derder urged the pupils to strive for their dreams and continue applying their learnings. Sir Jayson shared his 20-year journey as a seafarer—studying hard, persevering, and reaching his ambitions—emphasizing that the Adopt-a-Ship Program equips learners with valuable knowledge. Capt. Neeraj expressed his joy in engaging with the students and told them he looks forward to the day they join Anglo Eastern.
In his special message, Sir George highlighted the value of teamwork, reminding the pupils that the world relies on shipping—and shipping relies on seafarers. Sir Jeff thanked everyone for the program’s success.
The Anglo Eastern Staff Satisfaction Engagement Team facilitated fun and interactive games. Awards were given to Quiz Bee winners, including the Young Mariner Awardee, followed by certificate distribution and a photo session. Mrs. Mylin Zaide closed the program with gratitude, emphasizing the saying “It takes a village to raise a child” and the reminder that “Walang magsasawang gumawa ng mabuti.” The event ended with the message: “Learning never stops.”
P1CES Closing Ceremony
At P1CES, Dr. Renante Soriano, School Head, welcomed everyone with heartfelt appreciation for the Adopt-a-Ship Program, acknowledging not only the knowledge shared but also the technical support provided.
Inspirational messages were once again delivered by Ms. Rachel Derder, C/E Jayson Garcia, and Capt. Neeraj Dhingra, reinforcing the themes of perseverance, curiosity, and dreaming big. Mr. George Hoyt reminded pupils of the vital role of shipping and the importance of teamwork, planting seeds of awareness about the maritime industry.
C/OFF Jeffrey Aldas expressed his gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the program. Educational and interactive games added excitement to the event.
The closing remarks by Ms. Myla Cunanan were memorable and engaging as she led the pupils in an energetic “Hey! Hey, Captain!” call with background music. She concluded by asking them to give a salute and say, “Maraming Salamat Po.”
