The closing ceremony of 'Adopt a Ship' Program was held in SPRCNHS in partnership with Intership Crew Philippines on March 31, 2025, marking the successful completion of the "Adopt a Ship" program. The event began with opening remarks by Mrs. Jane Rama, who expressed her gratitude for the program and thanked the Intership Crew Philippines for their support. She also thanked the students for their active participation and hoped the program helped raise their awareness and understanding of the maritime industry. In sequence, Capt. Rommel Salinas then delivered an inspirational speech, sharing an insights on the benefits of being a seafarer, including financial stability and the opportunity to travel the world. He acknowledged the challenges of being away from family but emphasized that true success is measured by the willingness to pursue a career in the maritime industry. In addition, Chief Engineer Mr. Gicaraya spoke about the importance of having a strong heart and mind to succeed in the competitive maritime industry. He highlighted the significant role seafarers play in global trade, stating, "Without seafarers, there would be no transportation of goods between countries." He encouraged students to grow professionally and he's hoping to see some of them join his company in the future. Mr. George Hoyt, the IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador, shared his thoughts on the importance of teamwork, both within families and among classmates and colleagues. He reminded students that the maritime industry offers equal opportunities and is committed to inclusivity. Ending with Mr. Jeffrey Aldas, the Managing Coordinator of AASI, expressed his excitement for the upcoming "Adopt a Ship" learning sessions, which will give students a good experience in the maritime field. He ended by stating, "Closing remarks do not mean the end, but the beginning of the program." The ceremony marked not only the ending of the program but also the beginning of new opportunities, learnings and career paths for the students in SPRCHNS.
