SCM Launching Ceremony with A1CES

The Adopt-a-Ship Program was relaunched at Adelina 1 Complex Elementary School on July 11, 2025 in partnership with Senator Crewing Manila. This meaningful event symbolized another cycle of implementation to awaken the imagination of students by bringing the vastness of the oceans into their classrooms. Gracing the occasion were Ms. Anna Don Ureta, QA Compliance Officer, C/OFF Jehrameel Soler, and other delegates from SCM, alongside the AASI Team, led by IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador Mr. George Hoyt. The A1CES community, led by School Head Mrs. Suzette Bitoon, welcomed the guests with open hearts and bright smiles. In her opening remarks, Mrs. Bitoon underscored the importance of maritime integration into the core curriculum in shaping globally aware and career-ready learners. Students and teachers shared heartfelt stories, revealing how the Adopt-a-Ship Program has made learning more tangible and inspired deeper engagement in the pursuit of transformative education. Ms. Ureta energized the audience with an interactive talk that shed light on the vital importance of shipping and the dynamic world of maritime careers. C/OFF Soler offered a glimpse into life at sea, sharing his journey and highlighting the essential role of seafarers in the interconnected world. Mr. Hoyt delivered a message grounded in timeless values - generosity, discipline, and teamwork. C/OFF Jeffrey Aldas introduced the program’s implementation phases and led a lively Q&A game that sparked thoughtful curiosity among the learners. Closing the ceremony was Ms. Joan Osicos, who extended heartfelt thanks to industry partners for their unwavering support and expressed her hope for a continued partnership that opens doors to future possibilities. As part of the program, world maps were distributed allowing students to track their adopted ships, while reinforcing geography lessons. The event culminated in a photo opportunity that captured the spirit of the day. Beyond the bright smiles and vibrant energy, SCM and A1CES stand ready to reignite their shared commitment to promoting maritime awareness through the Adopt-a-Ship Program - where education is anchored in purpose, and young learners are inspired to dream beyond the confines of the classroom and toward the boundless horizons of the sea.
