CVES Launching Ceremony with BSM Ship Management

On August 21, 2024, the Adopt a Ship program was officially launched at Chrysanthemum Village Elementary School (CVES), marking a significant milestone in maritime education. The event was held in partnership with BSM Ship Management, represented by a delegation led by Fleet Personnel Manager Mr. Jayson David, accompanied by Capt. Abasola, Ms. Leila Vicente, Ms. Dianne Guerra, and members of the BSM Seafarers Wives Association (BSM SWA). Chief Officer Jeffrey Aldas, the Managing Coordinator, represented the AASI team. The launch was attended by students and teachers from grades 4 to 6. Mr. Raymond Gomez, the school head, delivered the opening remarks, warmly welcoming the guests and expressing gratitude for hosting the Adopt a Ship program at CVES for the second time. A talented grade 4 student delivered an impressive song performance, captivating the audience with his vocal abilities. In his speech, Mr. David highlighted the significance of the maritime industry and encouraged students to explore the diverse opportunities it offers. Capt. Abasola shared personal stories from his seafaring career, engaging students in an interactive Q&A session that sparked their curiosity about life at sea. Mrs. Josefina Natural from BSM SWA offered insights into the life of a seafarer's family, discussing the sacrifices and rewards associated with a maritime career. Chief Officer Aldas introduced the Adopt a Ship program, explaining its implementation and providing insights into the shipping industry. A 2x3 meter world map was presented to the teachers, which will be used to track the location and movement of the students' adopted ship, enhancing their understanding of geography. During the 10-week program, students will have the opportunity to ask questions to ship officers onboard, with their answers integrated into the Social Science curriculum through weekly discussions led by teachers during AAS sessions. Ms. Emelie Ebreo delivered the closing remarks, thanking everyone involved and expressing her optimism for the program's success at CVES. The event concluded with a group photo, capturing the joy and enthusiasm of all attendees. The launch is a testament to the transformative impact of the Adopt a Ship program in enriching the educational experiences of students.
