Conditions of participation - Each Orphanage or Shelter that participates agrees:

a. Communications will always be between an adult working in your Organization and an IWSF (International Women Seafarers Foundation), or MAPS (Maritime Awareness Program Society), member, or a Senior Seafarer working onboard a Ship.

b. There will never be any direct communication between any of the children in your organization and any IWSF or MAPS member, or a Senior Seafarer working onboard a Ship.

c. To exchange an email message once a week with each of the 2 Captains/Senior Seafarers who are participating from a Ship.

d. To share that information with the children in your Organization

e. To participate in AaSOS throughout the year.

f. There may weeks when one or both of the Senior Seafarers will not be able to communicate via email with your Organization

g. To have all your children in residence over the age of 9, complete a 2 page pre-test survey prior to communications beginning with the Seafarers (Sample available -this will be provided)

h. To send the IWSF, a message once a month tells how the program is operating and that includes at least two photos, videos, and/or drawings, poems or letters from the children

i. To authorize MAPS, IWSF and Adopt A Ship to share those items in a non-commercial manner, on their respective websites, Facebook pages, Newsletters and Presentations.

j. To allow an IWSF or MAPS member to visit once every 2 months, when it is convenient and safe for your organization to have visitors

k. To complete a 2 page post-test survey in December 2023. (Sample available -This will be provided)

FUNDING - Five organizations (orphanages/shelters) will be selected.

Each of the 5 Organizations will receive the INR equivalent of USD $100 per month, less banking and admin expenses, (cost of maps, test/surveys), travel, etc., for every month it participates in AsSOS.

Funding will continue throughout 2023 and beyond, if all partners are willing and able to participate.

Any expenses incurred in AaSOS must be deducted from the INR conversion of the $500, before that amount is divided equally, and sent every month, by ISWF to the 5 Orphanages/Shelters that are selected.

TIMING - The AaSOS program will begin in January 2023 and will run throughout the year.
